Old vs. New

My mom recently found this cook book while doing some house reorganizing, it was her mom’s and before that her mom’s mom’s.

The date in it says 1928, which makes this thing nearly a century old. A few pages and the cover were falling off, but we were able to do some repairs with book binding glue and tape. My favorite part is the handwritten notes and added recipes, I love that the tradition of making things our own has been in the family a long time. I’m looking forward to trying some of these out, to see if they stand the rest of time or need some generational updates.

A few years back I started my own binder with recipes that I loved, or adjusted, or made up and have continued adding to it. It's been a fun way to build this collection organically over time.

I mentioned this in my 'About Me' post - but this blog is essentially a digital extension of that project. If you are thinking of creating your own similar collection, I've attached the recipe template I created here to help get you started.
